THE COURAGE TO BREAK OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE
Courage is perhaps one of the most important qualities that you can develop for happiness and success in life. As Steve Jobs once said; “Your time is limited; so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.”
It’s a proven fact that the most successful people are also the most courageous. You don’t get to the top by being a coward.
There are different forms of courage that you can develop with practice, including the following:
1) Courage to Dream Big and Set Big Goals
The very challenge of setting big challenging and exciting worthwhile goals is so overwhelming that most people quit before they can even begin. They think of all the reasons why they might fail and they give up instead of soldiering on. Don’t let your fear stand in your way. Sit down and write down all your goals as if anything is possible and never be afraid to dream big. As some once said “Courage is not the absence of fear, it is the ability to act in the presence of fear”. Below is the shot video to help you overcome the fear.
2) Courage to make a Commitment.
This is the courage to throw yourself whole-heartedly into whatever you decide to do. Successful people are not afraid to put their whole hearts into their endeavors and they don’t do things by half measures. If they fail, it is only by trying greatly and not by playing it safe and hoping everything will work out in the future. To be successful you need to be a risk taker and you need to be willing to commit yourself fully to your dreams even without any guarantee of success.
3) Courage to move out of your Comfort Zone.
This is the courage to move into your zone of discomfort where you feel awkward, clumsy and alone. The comfort zone is one of the greatest enemies of human potential. Once people get into a comfort zone, they strive to stay in it even though they are actually stuck in a rut. Their fear always holds them back and keeps them from realizing their full potential.
If you desire success, you need to be willing to face discomfort in order to grow. You need the courage to risk failure and to deal with defeat. If you have the courage to treat failure as an opportunity rather than a setback, your efforts will pay off eventually and you will also be able to learn from your mistakes.
Successful people are not necessarily those who always make the right decisions. If they make a mistake they accept it, learn as much as possible from it and carry on. The more you fail and the more mistakes you make the smarter you will become and the more likely that you will eventually achieve your goals.
4) Courage to Persist Longer than Anyone Else.
Persistence is the number one quality for success in every field in life. It is the one factor that can guarantee your success in the end because if you refuse to quit, you must ultimately succeed. Remember that no one can ever be defeated unless they accept defeat as a reality. This means that the only person who can defeat you is yourself. You only truly fail when you allow failure to discourage you. Successful people never give up and they always soldier on against all odds no matter what. Follow their example and always pursue your dreams persistently.
